Drawing inspiration from nature, MyLan gathers inspiration from her travels to design and construct bespoke landscapes.

With a legacy spanning over 13 years, Plant Design Therapy has earned acclaim for its expertise in crafting, renovating, and revitalizing outdoor spaces, both small and large, for residential and commercial properties. Our focus on sustainability, native plants, and community enrichment, coupled with our commitment to budget-friendly solutions, sets us apart.

In 2012, the journey began as MyLan Sarner, the founder of Plant Design Therapy, bid farewell to her career in NYC in Fashion Public Relations, redirecting her focus from distributing Australian Fashion into the USA Market to her settling into her new countryside home in Essex, CT. Inspired by the green lush lawns of Connecticut to the coastal plantings, MyLan decided to shift gears to expand her love for gardening into a business.

In 2013, MyLan’s passion for designing flourished as she ventured into horticulture education, becoming a Master Gardener at the University of Connecticut. Her experience in nurturing rooftop gardens in NYC and Brooklyn ignited her desire to delve deeper into the realm of gardening, prompting her to work in private estate gardens to refine her skills.

The birth of her children, Lily and Lucas, sparked a new inspiration within MyLan. Driven by the joy of creating natural beauty from seeds and soil, she founded a Garden Design and Installation Firm, specializing in planters and gardens.

In 2018, fueled by a thirst for knowledge, MyLan enrolled in the Landscape Design Program at the New York Botanical Garden, paving the way for the evolution of Plant Design Therapy into the distinguished landscaping firm it is today. Our team, comprised of talented gardeners, landscaping contractors, masons, electricians, irrigation experts, and pool installers, meticulously executes projects, ensuring impeccable results with every installation and maintenance service.

Today, Plant Design Therapy stands as a premier Landscape General Contractor, offering comprehensive design, installation, and maintenance services. From concept to execution, we collaborate with trusted and highly reputable professionals to surpass expectations. As the owner and lead landscape designer, MyLan Sarner infuses her projects with passion and expertise. These gardens clearly were conceived by an artist and brought to life by a Master Gardener, and installed by a landscaping professional. WOW!!! MyLan responded to my inquiry immediately. She is a pleasure to work with: enthusiastic and very good at listening closely to understand what I wanted/liked. MyLan came with 2 crew members , came and weeded out 2 plant beds,cut and pruned, cleaned out old red mulch. Even though it rained today, was very cheerful, listened to my concerns and my wishes for the landscape, and discussed possible designs, even did additional works that was not part of contract, cleaned up when finished. Will definitely use again!!
